Are there any ''Nightingale'' hospital wards still in use in the United Kingdom?
Only a few years ago I remember working in Nightingale style wards which were long rooms with about 10 beds down the left side and 10 beds down the right side, which constituted the entire bed area of the ward. Recently almost all trusts in the United Kingdom seem to have built at least one new hospital. The hospital I work in has wards comprising of many 6 bedded rooms and has a 'shortage' of single bedrooms. This is concerning the trust so much that they have spoken about an 'internal upgrade' to turn some of the 6 bedded rooms into 4 bedded rooms and some of them into two single en suite bedrooms. However it was only a very short time ago when I remember lots of Nightingale wards but they seem to have suddenly vanished. I understand how single rooms are important for preserving people's dignity if they are terminally ill or for containing the spread of infection, however in practice I enjoyed working on Nightingale wards because it was much more easy to do one patient at a time, and with sinks between each bed, barrier nursing could still be maintained. I find that sadly, on busy wards, patients in single bedded side rooms are neglected the most. Does anyone know if any trust in the United Kingdom still uses Nightingale Wards and is not in the process of replacing them?

Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen still uses this type of ward (or did when I was last there a year ago). It is an old building (and l guess subject to listed building restrictions) so any attempt to modernise would be highly expensive.

Is there a Holly House Hospital at 22 Wimpole StrStreet London W1M 8LD , United Kingdom? thanks?
I have researched this and have found a Holly House Hospital with a different address..Im just confused because I am a nurse applicant and they asked me to secure a UK entry clearance and they gave me an Agency to get it. The agency is asking for 200 pounds as payment. I'm making sure it's not illegal. Please answer if you know. Thanks in advance!

Any one who offers you a job and then asks for money is a SCAM. Don't reply to any further mails and never send any money to people you have not met.

Don't pay anyone anything. The address is fake. There is no such no such postcode, the street exists but there is no 22 and the street has a different postcode. The Holly House Hospital I've found is a private hospital based in Essex, which is outside of London and it's advertising vacancies which you could apply for yourself. It is possible that as a private company their registered headquarters is not based at the facility in Essex but the address is far too wrong for a professional organisation. http://www.hollyhouse-hospital.co.uk/content/file/vacancies_list.asp Contact the hospital direct to find out if you have been offered a job or if they use an agency to bring in staff. You don't need an agency to apply for a visa to the UK, you can apply for one yourself and I would advise you to contact your nearest British Embassy to find out if this agency is known to them, they should also be able to tell you for sure if this is a scam.
