What is realistically expected of a student nurse

What is realistically expected of a student nurse?
Hey im applying for uni's to do a mental health nursing course, today I received a rejection from London City University with the reason ... 'You did not demonstrate a clear understanding of what is required to be a student nurse/midwife You had some difficulty expressing yourself clearly verbally and/or in writing' Could any student nurses or previous student nurses give any information or advise on what is expected as there is not a large amount of information available online or at school. :)

i trained as an rmn and found it a very rewarding experience their are alot of different areas to experience with different placements i worked in acute admissions, alcohol dependency and care of the elderly eg alzheimers. i also had a general nursing placement working on a stroke/ heart ward and the accident and emergency dept. i think things have changed a bit since i trained but expectations are the same with a proportion of workplace learning and in school learning.also to consider are health and safety aspects, risk assessment, manual handling regulation, medication administration and legislation. its also important to mention your position and knowing your limitations legally and morally. i hope this has helped a bit
