To study to become a nurse (in london) how intense does it get?
I was thinking of doing an access course on nursing so I can get into doing nursing in uni. But I have a few questions, How intense does the process get? This day and age if I do take the course and study at uni, how likely is it that I would find a job? ALSO What's better in terms of finding a job, adult nursing or paediatrics? Please your help would be much appriciated. I don't want to go into something blindly and regret it. By the way living in London. Thank you

well, I'm going to be studying "access to Nursing" In August. And, I want to do psychiatric nursing. One reason being, in that now a days, the nursing industry is really popular, and its a career a lot of people want to get into. Therefore, there is very little jobs for general nursing now. So yeah, it will be pretty tough to find a job. But I live in Scotland, so London will be slightly different; you'll have more hospitals etc, so there will be more for you there. The good thing about an access course, is that it runs on for just less than a year, and its a pretty good taster of what your training is going to be like... so if you do the access course and don't like it, its not the end of the world. Adult nursing is reasonably popular, but not as much so as general. psychiatric nursing is not very popular at all, the least popular in fact. I think it will be quite Intense, obviously nursing isn't easy so there will be a lot of course work & essays. But, if its something you really wanna do then you should definitely try it out. It will be great experience for you.
